What has been the recent severance packages for those getting laid off? I’m curious about the severance base pay (for below job grade 12’s) and additional pay from number of service years.

@OP The package you are offered will all depend on the legal entity you are in and your years of service. I was laid off and had 15 years of service in the US. I received 1.5 weeks severance for every year up to 10 and then 1 week for every year after that. If you are US based you are offered Cobra to maintain your insurance, but it is not subsidized at all. The real question, not always defined in policy, is what your termination date will be. When they announce US layoffs they usually have a date for all people to be severed. This means if laying people off takes 30 days from the day you announce an individuals time before termination could vary by 30 days. Termination for all is June 30 for example and you are told May 15 you have 45 days, but someone else may have been told May 1 and then they had 60 days.
I’d welcome a package at this point.
There were rules set up that prevented outside contractors from working in house, I believe related to a lawsuit between contractors and Microsoft. An added benefit to the rule was that it protected 3M proprietary information. I guess things change if it saves a few bucks.
@wh I'm in IT. They're bringing in managed services (contractors).
It'll take a few weeks to teach them how to do our jobs. So I would estimate early Q4 is when layoffs will start.
@vn it has been very quiet lately. I think end of June sounds about right.
anyone knows of the next round of cuts to be announced? suspecting end of June?
@dt 2 weeks for every year of service is what I've heard here in the US.
@OP I know of some region. 1 month for every years of service, subject to capped at 24 months. Probably bounded by the country government guidelines. This data is for the last layoff exercise in Dec2025.
2 weeks of severance pay for each year of employment service. Minimum benefit : 4 wk maximum benefit : 26 weeks.
