Thread regarding FactSet Research Systems Inc. layoffs

My team lost several good and hardworking folks

That tells you clearly that this had nothing to do with performance, and everything to do with a bunch of numbers on a spreadsheet. A very, very stupid move long-term.

@a7 spot on.

Just insane that top engineers get laid off and low performing PIP ones remain, can someone explain that?

At what point do people unionize?

So why are any of you doing any more than the bare minimum? Are you that invested in bolstering already bloated executive compensation?

They have long given up caring about employees. Any caring is local to your team, group, or office. At the executive level, most everyone is a number. Costs keep going up and the easiest thing to cut is people. FDS is buying back a billion in shares this year. They have cash but they don't know how to turn it into revenue so might as well try to stabilize the stock price. Of course, don't touch the exec compensation, just manipulate the spreadsheet.

They pretend to care about employees, but these actions speak louder than corporate slogans / platitudes.

It definitely wasn’t performance related. My last review was Exceeds Standards, and my boss was discussing me for promotion, but I got laid off too.
