Thread regarding TransCanada Corp. layoffs

Is your Manager notified if you apply for another internal job in workday?

I'm considering applying for another internal job but not sure if I will get an interview. I want to ensure I get an interview before letting my boss know that I applied for a job.

Does anyone know if workday notifies your manager as soon as you apply for another job?

@1 well, we need a safe space to communicate. All company devices are monitored and I’m looking for a truthful conversation, sad that it does have to be here.

Interesting that you asked this in a layoffs website. It speaks to the culture you work in that you would be fearful of your manager finding out you applied for another job.

Sounds like a high performer who wants to get away from an unsupportive manager.

@bx This is accurate, but if someone has a manager who might feel slighted by having an employee who wants to pursue other opportunities, it might be advantageous to take a chance and avoid any retaliation. Not every manager knows how to manage people.

No, bad practice not to before you apply and if you do apply first you better believe you won’t be on the next draft board on draft day if you know what I mean.

I don't think it's automated in Workday, but the hiring manager will generally notify your current management. I believe when you apply it tells you to notify your management as a part of the process. A good manager will encourage you to develop in new roles that challenge you and further your career.
