@ab Spot on, but nobody has been actually replaced by AI. These layoffs are nothing more than cutting costs to throw more money into the pipe dream that one day AI might be able to replace people. The fact is US and EU workers are just being replaced by cheaper 3rd world third party consultants and the US companies have eviscerated their leadership and knowledge base pipelines for extremely short term gains.
They laid everyone off based on cheap discounted welcome subscriptions that are going to get repriced to cost more than worker salaries. They have massively underestimated the infrastructure costs, which is why they are ripping off rural folk and stealing water and power. They are betting that smart people will get things to work better and cheaper. Their plan is to recover the cost of the bets.
