Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

San Antonio be prepared…

A lot of rumblings here at the corporate office in Dallas of some mass layoffs hitting San Antonio. Hearing that there is a huge move to a new building out there and AT&T is way over budget. I have no clue what positions are even in San Antonio so be prepared to follow the work if you’re a unionized employee or have your resume updated if you take the surplus package. If it’s for managers which unfortunately get little to no benefits then I would create a Texas Workforce Commission account right now to get ahead of the unemployment benefits that Texas at least has to offer. Mass layoffs are coming June 16th and San Antonio isn’t the only one I’m hearing about but is the one that’s getting talked about the most. Good luck my fellow comrades and fight on!

@aw "so I know I'm safe" .... you can tell you've only been here a year. No one is ever safe. Literally no one.

I don’t believe this at all. Our manager said we’re a super center and we’ve been hiring for months already. I’ve been with the company just over a year and I already have good seniority and a great schedule. We have a class that’s in training right now so I know I’m safe

HR OneStop is mostly based in San Antonio. The company has been spending a lot of money and devoting a lot of resources behind the scenes to stand up solutions to drive employees to a site instead of a call or chat queue. Hopefully they've seen the writing on the wall and have positioned themselves accordingly.

People that said no to moving to Dallas and a replacement has been hired. Hearing they could be impacted as early as June 1.
hearing June 16th is the big layoff for the organization cuts that are around 10-20ish % per department. some more some less.

I know a huge layoff announcement is coming June 15th but have little knowledge on which markets/departments. If OP is correct on any office doing a move and being over budget then that is a huge red flag and layoffs do come with that. June is the scariest month for layoffs. I’m 6 years away from retirement and just keeping my head down and praying I make it
