Not surprised. uhg is one of the most toxic place to work. Indian managers are horrible. No sense of basic courtesy, no concept of work life balance, they work all the time and all they do is churn out slop. Micromanaging constantly. Their only mission is to kiss senior management a-s nonstop at the expense of their team members well being. The American executive laugh behind their back. I would apply elsewhere. Now they realize they can milk the sh-t out of their Indian managers by n cutting people as these managers will do anything to keep their brown noses nice n wet with fresh sh-t

@2dv SriCharity aks Sh--Charithe brown noser is in India. My only wish is he stays there permanently and leave us American engineers alone. I am sick and tired of his non-stop demands which the VPs and the sr. Directors take out on us. It's no stop perform perform perform. It's ridiculous

They opened a massive GCC offshore location in Chennai, India today. It can seat 1000s of people, IT, tech support, back office etc. For the naysayer do you really think they opened that without plans of huge layoffs in US?

@vy very likely.. people working 10jrs a day deploying code actively are being laid off so can't imagine someone with no with slipping through the cracks for long

@vy likey to be rif if you don't have any work. I doubt they'll want to keep people with not enough work when people working 10hrs a day and doing git commits daily and doing Devops are getting laid off..

@qj did he delegate all his work to an offshore manager before PTO? Happened with one of managers in the past and he never returned. I tried to ask and was silenced saying it was a unplanned personal situation only to later find out he was let go.

@qk 🤣. THIS is why this company su-ks. I won't be surprised if he is a senior director!

Just look at the total employee counts, it keeps falling despite massive hiring in India. That means Americans/onshore are being laid off regularly. Not only that, US attrition is covered by offshore hiring or not at all. This is spiralling out of control and needs Congress intervention. A company making billions serving members in America, on American Medicare welfare funded by American tax payers cannot have all it's IT and back-office jobs outsourced to a third world country that has no interest or concern about American healthcare.

@jf my manager took a week off all of a sudden in middle of projects. This is the sign I was looking for. All I got was some vague work with no actual value last few days. He made sure I am working 10+ hrs a day by dumping lot of KTs, ppt work and analysis/documentation most of which made no sense. Refused to approve secure access. They hired 2 offshore FTEs this week. 2 offshore contracts last month. Start saving money now onwards folks! Cook, stop buying things that's not absolutely necessary, turn up that AC, cancel gym membership you can't use any working in this he-l, get mental healthcare while you are still on the insurance.

@j7 I am one of the brilliant ones you are talking about. I am also aware of the PowerPoints you are talking about. I think I know which team you are talking about. Wish we can DM! We would make a great team. Not sure if I can believe anything else being discussed here, somehow google brought me here, but you are spot on dude/dudes, hats off.

@j2 he or she is a right. I work for a consulting company, been on UHG cloud migration projects. certain team of so called architects is a joke. They changed the "architect" 3 times. By architect I mean some that joins calls, question what we did and why, put that on a PowerPoint and send it their management and get trashed on the review calls, get upset and trash the poor consultants doing what they can in this he-l hole where nothing works. There are some good technical hands-on ones and some brilliant that carry the weight of entire divisions, once they leave this ship sinks.

@eq I would not be so sure about that. There are some cables running on the floor of the ocean through the straight that might require a ‘fee’ and paying said ‘fee’ violates US sanctions ….. US connection to India run via Europe from the straight.

@OP Any news on the OI RCM products for the May 28th layoff?

@hx no more UGH in a couple of years, they are moving Optum tech to UHC and remainin will be new company Optum that will probably just shutdown eventually. I read in another post that the teams under UHG will either move to UHC after the spinoff or laid off. ETIPS is being totally outsourced to a vendor (cognizant, Accenture, Wipro and TCS are bidding) not sure how credible the other post is but most companies are outsourcing infrastructure maintenance now a days as most systems move to cloud it's not worth it doin infra in-house. My wife got laid off from a brokerage firm starting with V did to this very same reason, the vendor there was Infosys.

@ds 'Optum will get folded into UHC in early 2027.’ any credible source to indicate this is in the works? Will of impact Optum tech FTEs? Or UHC? I guess both but wonder who will get hit more. Btw rumor is ETIPS is no longer under Optum infra. Good riddance
They are the WORST team I have seen in the 30+ years of my career in IT. Nobody knows anything other than the tiny piece they work on. Any issues? Good luck you will be running around 25 different teams trying to figure out who can fix n train them on their own systems as they don't talk to each other. Beats me how Optum allowed this beast to grow so huge.

@df Wellmed will be completely gone by the end of the year. Look at OH EHR migration to Epic/Dragon. There's an iron fist of a mandate to move all of OH over to Epic/Dragon and Wellmed is NOT part of the plan. That's the easiest public tell available.

Post ID: @gm+1kryy7b2b

@et OT teams (and OA, OI) working on UHC projects will eventually get folded into/rebadged as UHC or ORX. From there the work will get AI-automated/offshored.

What's left of OT will be a shell supporting OI products and Enterprise Partners. That work will dry up as OI products sunset and we outsource projects wholesale (not just contractors on teams) to Wipro and Cognizant.

@OP I have been hearing the same. Any numbers? I am in ETIPS and got moved around dozens of time over the years. I don't have much new work as I support legacy systems. I guess I am toast? I just need to work for couple more years till I can start collecting SS, I have not seen any internal roles posted that I can apply for. I noticed several of my colleagues taking PTO this month, all of a sudden. Scary.
