Development Plans

Curious if any AT&T employees who are over 50 and qualify for a pension have been unexpectedly put on a “Development Plan”?

I am an older guy with lots of knowledge and experience. They won't put me in a development plan. Or they will be sorry.

I have 22 yrs of NCS. About 8 mos. ago my VP placed me on a DML and I said OK - starts today and for the next 4 weeks I'm on vacation.
About day 3 of my VT a crisis struck (while I was interviewing). I didn't answer my phone or emails while gone. Came back to give notice and had a meeting with my VP and EVP who planned to threaten me for not answering. When they finished I handed my resignation and gave 2 weeks notice if they wanted it. We left and that afternoon we met again and they offered me a bonus if I'd stay. There was a crisis while I was gone that required vendor support costing thousands of dollars. NOPE. I've accepted my DML, my bye bye money, my 401 transfer and now making more money than the EVP.
Thanks, xyz for the encouragement to "make a decision".

If you’re a privileged employee there is no such thing as a development or performance plan!

Curious as well I have heard too many stories of older pension eligible employees being pip’d or laid off right before getting rule of 75! This tactic saves a company a lot of $$$$$$$$$$$. The only real reason to stay with the company is if you are close to this “75” rule which means you probably have a pension!
