Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

Any truth to the acquisition stock spike yesterday?

So the stock spiked to mid 120's and I see rumors of someone wanting to .... erm... what's this BUY netapp.... ffs who would be D-MB ENOUGH??

"There's some takeover speculation around NetApp (NTAP), according to a Betaville "uncooked" alert circulating among traders on Thursday. It's not clear which company is circling NetApp. " (MSN)

However d-mb, it does put some of the last few years behavior into some sort of narrative that makes sense. Have they been preparing and putting lipstick on for two years now?

"They" have been talking about NetApp being an acquisition target for two decades now. So... no.

@m5 Dave [Hitz] is that you? Still bitter than your "golden boy" choice for VP of Engineering in 2000 turned out to be such a loser?

I believe that was Netapp's turning point ... and you only have yourself to blame.

Now go away ...

@a2 Stuck at 6B for 10 years because of pushing diversity over success. NTAP has spent millions on it. Also, the board and CEO aren't visionary. That happens when you remove the founders. I bet GK doesn't even know which end of a bull to castrate.

It would be a win win for the grifter executives. A nice exit strategy where they get to leave with butt loads of cash and without having to see all their terrible short term ideas and plans come crashing down on them.

Last 2 year behavior makes know sense either way you cut it.

If we are acquired, it will probably be by the big hardware/software companies - like Broadcom or Cisco.

They would want Ontap for core storage. Everything else is excess baggage. Most r&d in the last ten years even has been in “everything else.”

It is a logical result it will end up in someones hands. Great product (ONTAP) perhaps the pinnacle of Data Management technology , stable , terrific features. Stuck at 6B for 10 years , managements incompetency has allowed useless IBM , hpe , DELL to survive in the storage bussiness with products that shouldnt even exist.
Incompetent Executive team , especially useless in Europe , hope the company ends up wto somewhere , that will give it a boost and get rid of all the useless managers that cant even sell water to dying man in the desert
