I've survived eight layoffs over the years, but I've got a bad feeling about the next one. Judging by my manager's behavior that suddenly shifted completely, I think my streak is about to end. I was never as worried about cuts as I am right now.

If you suspect, you will be. Leave now!
They already have lot of H1B, H4 EAD, OPT EAD candidates in line to take up your job.
Join Wipro or LTI of other contracting companies so that they can place you again in Citi.
Consulting companies are very powerful at Citi. They can bribe, influence at any level.
Start looking.
Friends are for outside of work here @ Citi. Listen to Bob Marley, in the song titles Who the Cap Fits when he says "Some will eat and drink with you, Then behind them su-su 'pon you. Only your friend know your secrets, So only he could reveal it." The guy next to you is your "associate", keep it that way and you will survive a lot longer. In more than 30 years I have never been to a colleague's house or socialized outside of business for a reason.
I feel the same place. Even when you try to chat with old comrades, they are so distant. Sadly I have no friends.
