Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

2026 Layoffs Continued

I was laid off after more than 15 years at Wells. I survived the previous rounds, but I was finally caught up. Our CEO made it no secret this would continue through 2026. Each round I survived I had a little hope. Make no mistake it doesn't matter if you are a top performer or not. I have seen top talent just be let go over and over. It will continue.

I knew this might be a possibility, so I have been looking for jobs for months. It's been scary with this economy and job market. No bites. Had resume reviewed, joined job boards, joined talent agency/groups. The only thing that has come up is short term contracts but no real bites. Ageism is real and it's scary as he-l. All I can do is keep trying, take some time to up-skill and get some additional feathers in my resume cap, but I would be lying if I didn't say this job market is brutal.

Make no mistake. Wells doesn't care about the loyalty and commitment you have shown to them no matter how many years of service. Your performance isn't a guarantee either. Over the years I have jumped when Wells said jump. Traveled more than I can remember, worked nights, worked weekends, putting in 50-hour work weeks. Been a repeated top performer. They expect loyalty from you but don't expect loyalty in return. Don't be fooled. None if it matters in the end. You are just a number to Wells.

Well, you have too many Indian consulting companies gaming the system. Shut down the loopholes and end the h4 ead. That should improve the job market for Americans automatically.

I have a different take. Finding a job should not be this hard. Companies put up a ton of hurdles like their job is the unicorn. We need more regulations around job search. If we agree we don’t want a safety net for people then we need to make companies hire quickly.

@a2 i agree very few companies care, bottom line. But the straight-up antipathy towards workers I sense coming off of Charlie is new to me. A company being indifferent to the fallout their decisions have on people is one thing, a company that actively views workers as liabilities is another. Charlie's public comments about trying to force attrition and celebrating years of headcount reductions are some of the ugliest things I have ever heard coming out of a CEOs mouth. Working at Wells really feels like working for sociopaths, it's a level above and beyond the typical indifference, in my opinion.

Good luck to all trying to find something else that's not toxic. I have seen an uptick in recruiters reaching out on linkedin, something that went dead silent in 2025, and am hopeful I can find a exit path soon

@OP did you get a package? We are hearing that there are not many packages being offered anymore.

very few companies care. I was laid off back in January after 16 years. just landed a job this week. take a few days to gather yourself then hit the ground running. it will take time, and it's a bit of a numbers game, but there are jobs out there. applied for around 350 myself, ended up with multiple offers this week.
