What is the PIL package?

Only my second year to go through this process. I know what it stands for, but can’t seem to find anything on the intrawebs. Is it 3 months and you just up and leave that day? I thought I read here you may have to work during it? Sorry for the amateur question.

How does PIL work with retirement benefits?

I heard that taking the PIL could affect your retirement benefits and it is better to take retirement without the PIL 3 month pay due to the potential affects.

@af There is no such a thing "find another job support”. They send you some documents to help you wh-t transition PIP(at the end) or PIL doesn't matter the same email is sent to you

People in my area are told the three month option is off the table - retire (if you can) or do the PIP.

Don’t PIL - accept the PIP and get an extra months pay. PIP doesn’t start until august at the earliest, maybe even September. At least for the supervisor and HR to go through all the paperwork - then on day one of your PIP starting, you take the PIL. Still get paid out for 90 days.

Also - you can work the pip and su-k at it and sup can’t axe you early unless you break some other employment law (drunk, not showing up at all, harassment, etc). Then quit on day 89 and your employment help clock starts then. Still no more pay or benefits after day 90, but the “find another job support” kicks in when you PIL - not sure if you get it when you PIP and fail.

I believe that the three months of pay is to look for a job.

If you start a new job before the three months is up you may be subject to losing XOM’s contribution

When you choose a PIL, you return all company properties (laptop, badge,...) and continue receiving your salary for three more months. You remain an employee on paper during that period but have no work obligations. You’re free to look for another job and can start working elsewhere at any time. If you start a new job during those three months, you essentially receive double pay.
