You see, Bob, it's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care. It's a problem of motivation. Now, if I work my a-s off and Opentext ships a few extra units, I don't see another dime, so where's the motivation? And here's something else, Bob: I have eight different managers right now. So when something goes wrong, I get pulled into 8 different teams' chat where no one wants to take any responsibility and play the blame game
That's my only real motivation, not to be hassled, that and the fear of being laid off. But you know, Bob, that will only make someone work just hard enough not to get laid off

@ap they aren't trying to sell what's left. They are getting rid of non core and keeping core long term. We are hiring and returning to growth

It's fascinating that the 'return to growth' trolls are back.

As far as culture..in 50 years I have never encountered such a horrible culture. Self indulgent leadership. The former CEO was a narcissistic arrogant vindictive control freak that drove the company to near bankruptcy through ill advised acquisitions..which took on tremendous debt. The new leaders are there to spin out non-core assets and hope what's left gets aquired.
There are a lot of good people still there (haven't been laid off yet) ..but the culture is horrible.
Thankfully I am out of the working world..but I wish the employees the best and hope they are all able to land on their feet at a better company.

@ab even if that was correct - about 10-20% of my job is now training them. Different departments that can't do their own jobs. And make it my problem from taking the case and trusting you can do your end, explain your renewal/order, etc.

It should be 0%. I literally signed up since I was told minimal calls.

If the new ones can't replace those you laid off, and are never given the resources to do their job from Opentext, that's padding. Not growth. And those newer folks are more likely to be reviewed as low performance from it. New people need new resources, new connections. Even entertaining this, OT is sending them to sla-ghter if they can't be bothered to help their own depts.

@OP *extra

Nobody works extra.

More often than not the holes are from:

New hires not being given proper onboarding/ training resources (OT problem)

Policy outside any one person you drafted (OT problem)

And then some of them are lazy. I won't act like it's a zero. But most people - especially right now - are at least doing enough to not get axed. Or else they'd have been laid off or get the 1/2s on review to be next. They just don't do what you feel is working. Which is sometimes more than the job's scope/desc. If you feel any one person or dept isnt helping - have you tried literally asking why? If they ghost from there you have grounds to take it higher. But if they give you a reason, and it's valid, chill.

This is coming from someone in the support teams - where even if it's not my problem it can absolutely be made my problem from owning the case. I can't use the 'stay in your lane' ts because the other departments force me to merge. Once it gets escalated I get a manager down my neck and more involved for what I'm waiting on. Some depts have more collaboration - literally nothing I can do lmao. Sorry, but in general I see where the argument comes from so it's chill.

Opentext is doing the thing where they have the remaining folks pick up the work of those laid off, for free, before guaranteeing it's safely automated and redundant. That's on Opentext, and employment contracts can be upheld as signed. That doesn't mean I do under the table fixes or ignore compliance issues for yall. It just means I explain what I can't do.

It’s the road to the end. The future ain’t what it use to be.

Oh no! Employees are disengaged, even though Open Text has consistently bent over backwards to benefit the employees? The horror 😱

Anyone doing this, I say keep up the excellent work and anyone concerning themselves with other people's productivity, I say get back in your lane and focus only about yourself.
