Would you consider finding an internal role and staying or are you completely done with fidelity? What are some of the pros and cons? I’ve seen a lot of people who were laid off last round come back either full time or contract so just curious.

Honestly no, probably not. The only reason a lot of people stayed through all the stress and nonstop reorganizing was because the culture atleast made it feel worth it back then. Your team mattered, people actually had eachothers backs, managers felt human. Thats kinda gone now.
Funny thing is the whole place always felt like this giant green City of Oz from the outside. Stable, polished, “best place to work,” all that. But I think the last couple years a lot of people finally pulled back the curtain and saw the wizard. Hard to unsee it.
I may consider after taking my extended PTO....and max out unemployment benefits 😁. Joking aside, layoff can happen anywhere, not just at Fidelity. You take the same risk regardless of where you go, unless you're independently wealthy and just working for fun.
In an effort to embrace some positivity, why not! It can’t hurt in the literal sense. They have already gutted us. Even if it just a bluff by the firm with that “offer” if you can even call it that… you are at the very least practicing an interview/resume prep before you jump to the next company. Who cares what others think about entertaining that idea. It sounds like you wanna take a shot. Good luck and I think you have a great attitude.
By the way, it’s not that much of a crazy idea — am i reading it right that you forfeit your severance pay if you get another job? Might as well use the firm for a trial run mock interview
