I just realized I have 15 years until I can get Medicare. I don’t know how I’m going to last that long. Every day at WF is miserable and there are no jobs out there to go to.

I was laid off at before I reached Medicare age. I am going to pay ACA crazy prices from my iRA to bridge the gap
Im 53, retiring at 59. Will have enough to cover me until Im 70 when I get my full SS.
12 for me and I’m counting down the days. Trying to figure out if there is anyway to qualify for disability and get it earlier. Most days I’m jealous of my dog.
Spent 23 years in the Army Reserve, so I get Tricare at 60 which will be a nice bridge to Medicare.
5 years to get medicare
But I do have 4M in Empower so not overly concerned
8 more years for me as of the EO May. But I'm not worried since I'm a 100% disabled vet. If I go the SSDI route, then I'll be fast-tracked. Once I've been on SSDI for 24 months I can file for Medicare even if I'm not yet 65.
The downside with SSDI is income limits, but add that to my tax-free VA check each month that does not count towards income, then I'll be okay.
What I "got" is knowledge. Sorry that's offensive to your proletariat sensibilities.
The beauty of the Affordable Care Act was that workers were freed from the tether of having to get health care from their jobs. This would have allowed you to change careers and make decisions on your own, not based on whether you could afford healthcare. Of course, that challenged all those who benefited from having workers trapped by their need for medical coverage.
I'm almost 62 so I'm just waiting on the golden ticket so the a--holes pay me to play golf for a year before I draw SS.
I have about 11 years until I'm Medicare-eligible and have been thinking the same thing -- not sure I'll make it that long (though I had previously always assumed I'd work until age 72 if able -- sole breadwinner, etc.). Don't want to start over somewhere else but guess I might have no choice, if I can even find anything. Su-ks.
@a2 why don't you just say "I got mine" and leave it at that so we can all save some time reading your two cents.
No chance of lasting 15 more years in this place.
Don’t worry, AI and India is going to replace most of us soon… you’ll be long gong way before your 15 years is up.
They say I didn't get offer because AI filtered my application.
News say not enough skilled workers to fill the jobs, need to relax H1B and make it easier for people to take our jobs.
But why do we need AI to filter my application, how many people are going after 1 job now?
I have just a few years less, and I'm not especially worried about it. Watch retire early / FIRE podcasts, there are several good options to bridge the gap.
