What they did to the call center workers by me was to tell them their job was being discontinued. Then turned around and offered them jobs as executive response in Texas. There's games they play.

@t9” This is a good time to abandon bargained labor. It will cost a few billion in the short term but, so long as the lawyers get paid, everyone will be happy. Workers can accept a L1 or L2 job based on their experience. It’s easy.”

Hahah, misery loves company, now RTO yourself to where you’re told to go, buy some quality knee pads and wait until they give you your 2 weeks off payroll date along with your paltry severance! :)

These low iq management educated id--ts that you can see are totally envious of Union workers severance terms can’t comprehend how a contract works. You are all delusional bootlickers that deserve your fate by corporate leadership. Now get back in the office and bend them knees’ ;)

So many of us will forever be laughing our fkng @$$es off when the surplus is announced and we take our termination pay and just move on. It's inevitably going to happen.

They might be able to do it to office workers, but not the field workers.

@p1 "rest assured, they will do anything and everything to prevent you from getting any 104 weeks of pay."

Agree. They have an army of highly paid lawyers and consultants. Authors of the RTO, Presence Reporting and "follow the work" schemes.

Many of us would rather be surplussed so we can take the termination pay, which is up to 104 weeks pay per Leg T/CWA contract, and just move on.

@gx if there is a surplus announcement and your the one that's tagged as surplussed (in order of seniority) If your bargained for they can make you move anywhere they offer you a job with the "follow the work" verbiage.
if you don't you just take the severance money!
case in point call center closed in west Texas and reps were offered to "follow the work to San Antonio, some that had a few years to retire did so and the rest took the surplus money!

Leg-T techs under article 41 and grandfathered NTS under article 43 ( I'm 1 of 94 left) can get up to 104 weeks with 31 years or more of service.

They’ve been doing it for years. Just ask any CWA-represented service rep or dispatcher. Their work has moved to Mexico, Philippines, India, Slovakia, and CWA never batted an eye. Sure can happen.

Midwest D4 CWA union employees receive up to 88 weeks termination pay after office is declared surplus! :)

No — AT&T union employees in the Legacy T unit do not receive two years of pay if they are surplused.
There is no AT&T or CWA contract that provides anything close to 24 months of severance pay for involuntary layoffs.

Here’s the accurate breakdown of what Legacy T employees do receive.

What Legacy T Employees Receive When Surplused

  1. Severance Pay (the main benefit)

AT&T severance for union employees is much smaller than two years of pay.

The typical structure across AT&T union surplus programs is:

• 1 week of pay per year of service (most common)
• Sometimes 2 weeks per year of service in certain programs
• Capped at a maximum number of weeks (varies by program)

Even in the most generous cases, this is nowhere near 104 weeks (2 years).

Example:
20 years of service → 20–40 weeks of pay, depending on the program
Not 104 weeks.

@gv
The real question is if ALL the union contracts has this type of protection OR NOT against the "follow the work/move to Dallas) strategy"

@a4 Its a very simple answer!!
Are you management? regardless if you have any subordinates.
If the answer is yes, then the company can bend you over whenever wherever however they want!!
if the answer is no, then you have to either be a contractor and the answer is the same as before, or your bargained for and the company has to follow the contract!!
which means seniority first, surplus announcements and so on.

@d1 follow your work can be offered by the company (Leg-t contract art. 24).

Are you sure about this??

Tax incentives to move you, Earning Per Share to lay you off 3 \ 6 months afterwards when you’re off payroll.
Best bet is to move to India where you will work for a dime on the dollar an hour.

Don't worry. AT&T values Leg T union workers.

That's why ATT lawyers and consultants get paid the big bucks to figure this out.

But the company cannot force a union Leg T worker to move to Dallas. They can offer the move and if accepted, the worker gets $12k to move. If move is not accepted and the worker is laid off, they get up to two years termination pay per contract. This is much better than non-represented employees like managers who simply get f u c k e d.

It's in your contract.

If not then it's possible if the union and company agree to it.

Going to be no more assigned trucks pretty soon. No more taking them home. Have to go to the yard every day, find a truck, checkout all tools and equipment. How will you all feel?
And for the record, I’ve done your tech job and far worse. I’m an exempt employee, not a manager as I manage no one nor do my decisions impact any employee, as are just about ALL the people working at an office. Stop the back and forth on this, it’s a workers rights conversation. People in offices want an assigned desk if we are going to be here every day. They want normalcy. If one of you techs had to sit in some of these corporate offices, you’d be filing grievances daily.
