Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Can you really ask for a layoff?

Anybody actually been successful or know someone first hand who has asked for a layoff and recieved a package?

I asked my Director to get me on the layoff list and she made it happen.

@nf Doesnt matter. If it was a Sprint program, it ceased to exist when Sprint did in 2020.

You can ask for anything you want!! Doesn't mean you are going to get it......

Yes. It's been around for decades. Sprint called it Voluntary Separation Plan (VSP). I know this because I took one.

Everyone should stop using AI and divest in any company that promotes it - it will be ruin of our civilization.

I did back in September 2023. But it does take the right Senior Director to make it happen. I’ve been enjoying retirement for almost 3 years.

Yes, that's absolutely a thing. I know of a Sr Manager (close to retirement) that requested it and was granted that by his boss.

It takes the right boss. Personally, I think it hurt this Director to no longer have a Sr Manager on his team at this location. He basically ki-led his shot at a backfill.

But this is the sort of thing that separates people-centric leaders from the rest of them....

Doubt it. Better question: how many are quiet quitting? Forced disengagement and forced isolation from management; along with constant pivoting - I'm just here for a paycheck.
