Expect more COP layoffs in 2026 and 2027

They've been telling you all that there are more coming. More outsourcing. More cost cutting.

It started in 2015. Like XOM, COP wants to having constant, rolling layoffs as a way to keep a younger (cheaper) workforce cycling through while relying increasingly on outside workers to do the nuts and bolts work. Experience, creativity, and knowledge are seen as weaknesses in employees. Only managers or “leaders” are seen as worthy. Annual or semi-annual headcount reductions paired with occasional but increasingly common acquisitions of genuinely successful companies is the business model these days. Don’t expect to have a job longer than 3-5 years unless you’re chosen for a specific role early in your career, or your parent(s) has some major influence somehow.

When have we ever been consistent ? That’s not in our DNA.

Base on my use of AI, I would expect many HR, accounting, and legal head count downsizing. It is too easy to use these AI resources for consistent answers vs the BS you get from these departments today.
