Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

Worst team you’ve worked with

For me, it's the procurement team. A $1000 payment can go over 6 months without any update. And they always direct me to another team A, and team a pointed me to team B and C. And finally it’s all of these 3 teams. Then they told me the payment is controlled by SHI. When I called SHI, they told me the vendor should have access to the link they provided.
Vendor provided invoice, then PO went to procurement again, one week before the deadline.

I escalated to VP, then they started to chase me down with PO.

What ridiculous

It’s not what you do, it’s what you appear to do. Executives all play this game so we should too. Come up with a solid elevator pitch on your roll and why it’s important and that will carry more weight than what you actually do. Just say you are all in with AI and play around with Copilot and some of our tool and make a story on how they are a game changer. Coach your manager on this and this will spread like a virus. Reality is just the raw data used to come up with a story to form a perception. Work smarter not harder.

@dz Marty’s org is the worst and most chilling one. I am just collecting my pay check every month . No work ,just relaxing, enjoying and riding till it ends. I hardly work 2 hours but makes sure MS teams status is always busy.Who do not love free money 😋 . There are many VPs senior directors , directors, managers , team members under him ( including him).I just accept it where as other don’t .

@h5 I don't know the exact terminology but for some of our run-ins I can vouch for the behavior.

hey these guys have too many licenses
you're right, lets audit
Compliance people on that assignment get laid off

  • crickets *

They publicly drop it and OT looks slacking, but between reorganizing work and ELA declarations they never came back to mine.

They honestly need to give you an answer though - generally we're told if we support while that goes on (or dies offstage.)

@f7 What is an “LV”? Can’t the other half that wasn’t laid off take over from the person or persons laid off?

The clueless architecture team that has no real product development experience.

@f9 OpenText is like a football organization with clueless coaches and owners. We have many good players here but the coaches have no game plan so players just talk to the press hoping the coaches will listen but the coaches are consumed with putting together PowerPoints and making press releases saying the future is bright. Time to fire the coaches and get new ownership.

@f7 The only solution to that problem is obviously more meetings where you get to explain everything to clueless management types, again and again.

I feel your pain, but all you can do is laugh about it at this point.

Hang in there, or don't. Whatever is best for your sanity.

@et Compliance opened a LV on one of my clients then half their team got laid off and now I'm just left with the fallout because no one knows what's going on but I'M the one who is taking the blame

Yall aren't having fun with this kinda question.

Professional Services. Cloud or on prem. Both su-k. I'm sorry - yall just DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DO YOUR DAMN JOBS. AND THEN YOU STARE AT ME LIKE A SAD PUPPY TO TELL YOU HOW. I shouldn't need to tell you how to insert a key or get what I need. That's literally why you exist man/maam/nb dude. You are paid, decent money I hope, and the PS revenue is really damn good. Get some resources and spare me from 8 calls ffs. Even the PS managers tied to a project, will often not know either so I can't go 'take this to your manager - literally cannot help you'. At a point I'm more a manager for probably half to ¾ the salary.

I make license, I send license. That's it. That's supposed to be it.

Other depts I work with have faults too but gotdam.

We are all victims of the systems by which we are enslaved, but maybe, just for you, you're getting what you deserve.

Order Management when trying to book a customer order, they come back with the PO is missing 1cent on the Purchase Order please revert to customer.. PO is like 500k USD then you recitfy after getting VP approval for 1cent and then they come back with no start date on PO. Fix that then they come back with no SAAS user on the PO even the fu---n order templates asks the REP to fill it in.... its like talking to a wall.

Legal.

Procurement.

Operations.

In that order. Bonus callout for all of the needlessly complex processes in play just to get anything basic done.
