Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

AirMI carnage

Talked to a former coworker who has survived the carnage at AirMI. The breadth of layoffs on the technical team is breathtaking. Either the plan is to move airbag manufacturing overseas and ignore all of the IP-related arguments to keep production in the US, or the forecast for future airbag development and production is dismal for many years out. Either way, a team that was creative, talented, and nimble has been decimated and will never be the same.

I survived the layoffs (so far) and went back to "work" today.
There is no plan. Roles are not defined in any way that makes sense. I don't know what my job is. My boss doesn't know what my job is. The answer to almost every question posed to every leader was "We'll have to figure that out."

@es Likely some leaders that are on an extended timeline or are helping with the transition.

Looks like there is about the missing number is those roles https://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/MODHEWD/2026/04/27/file_attachments/3630376/Nike%20IHM,%20Inc.%20%28dba%20AirMI%29%20WARN%20-St%20Charles.pdf

@e2 172 was the total at the St Charles MO facility only. At least that many are out at the Beaverton sites

@OP is 172 entire working staff or part of the staff?

Either way, seems like Nike will move them to China. In an effort cheapen the brand even more.

This company looks sadder and sadder
