Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Are Oracle employees recently laid off "blacklisted" for rehire/assignment to open positions?

Just curious if anyone has insight - I was impacted on 3/31 but was contacted by Oracle for positions they are trying to fill for the VA. I submitted my application(s) and also have been networking within Oracle Health. It seemed positive, but things have gone "quiet" and I have received the "Dear John" rejects about my applications.

Any insight?

Why run back just to be laid off again? It would be a toxic, abusive relationship.

Let's see- go back to Oracle and lose my severance, or go somewhere else and keep it?

When I got laid off back in January, there were 70+ vacancies in the UK. Checked recently and it was 2, but it's gone up to about 5 now.

Law requires that people who were laid off be notified when a job opening for an status adjustment (aka green card) is posted for a position similar to they had. It doesn't mean they wil hired. It's just a formality to get the status adjustment approved.

@ba a paycheck and benefits from anywhere is hard to get right now. People aren't going to be turning down any opportunity even for a bad job.

I came to know this when I re-applied for a person who was let go in September. Though few were hired back the rule was made strict starting end of October or November. May kids in India who were let go are still thinking that they will be rehired. Its not the case anymore. Better move-on.
People don't understand that roles are being eliminated. Not persons. Oracle doesn't need more count anymore. They are trying to optimize headcounts and it will be recurrent. The next round I heard is about performance based layoffs followed by another round by end of year. Better be prepared and refreshing the skills.

You're not going to get rehired. Move on already!

Why anyone would want back with a company that just dumped them is truly D-MB.

Oracle has quietly made this change. No rehire for 6–12 months for anyone laid off since last September. That’s why your laptop got bricked. You have to go through complete rounds of interview to get back to Oracle team.
Earlier, even after layoffs, people kept their laptops so they could stay in touch internally and move quickly to another team or project.
Senior Management is instructed with this info and unless critical need or requirement don't consider internal movement. This is completely different from other companies like Meta , Amazon where they give preference to laidoff employees.

All open reqs have been frozen or pulled back. There will not be any hiring for the rest of the FY and likely into Q1 of the new FY.

RIF'd employees DO get rehired, but vanishingly rare for these rounds as far as I know.

I have internal references who told me they were hiring for positions doing what I had been doing, but then were unable to hire because the job was frozen. "Leadership" is trying to cut expenses, so no matter how many people they NEED and want to hire, they can't fill them until, I don't know, the company has saved enough?
