Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Too much work

Does anyone else work past 40 hrs to get the work done but only log 40? They threaten to PIP or fire if all the work isn’t done EOM, so we’re all working free OT (we are hourly). This is exhausting. I’d rather just be laid off at this point.

@dc I know this is happening to my entire team. I just don’t know if they’d all be willing to join a lawsuit.

Might be a successful lawsuit.....many years ago the mortgage sales force successfully sued and won back wages. Goals were so high they were all working in excess of 40 hours.

@ck

Cut back on the quality to make the work fit into the 8 hour allotment. The more output expected, the more corners cut to fit it all in.

@ck Management asks that the OT be removed if there isn’t extra work to show for it. Even though the employee truly worked those hours to get done what’s “required”. It’s really bad

@a6 The problem is, they required X amount done in 8 hours. No one can do it, it’s too much, so a lot of us work the extra without clocking it because if we do, then we are expected to get even more done with the OT. They will just discipline or fire if it’s not done. Can’t they just claim that our role requires X and if we can’t do it in 40 hrs a week then that’s on us?

Be like the French. Begin work at 9am, take an hour for lunch, and end work at 5pm. Anything that happens after 5pm can be handled tomorrow. Anything that happens after 5pm on Friday is now Monday’s task. Want me to work after hours? Oh well. Want me to work weekends? Oh well. Want me to work on my vacation? F you.

Been there, “get the work done in 8 hours,” but then the job requires running an EOD process that can ONLY be done after 5pm.

WF had to go hire a FTE because this contractor wouldn’t work nights free.

@OP

If your post is honest and Not a troll, and if you're an hourly worker (Not Exempt), it's illegal to Not pay you overtime at least in the USA. And weekend work is time and one-half. Example: you make $10 per hour. Saturdays and Sundays are $15 per hour.

Contact your State's Dept of Labor AND an employee-side employment lawyer because this is wage theft amongst other violations.

There are thousands of employment lawyers that will take your case on contingency fee especially against a well known company like Sh!ttybank.

No, 9-5 every day. I clock off at exactly 5pm no matter what. My manager can handle whatever after hours bullsh-t needs handling. That’s why they make the big bucks.
