Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Bill Brown treats town half like investor calls

He wastes more than half of these meetings regarding everything he talks about in the earnings calls.

The guy can't comprehend that employees care about things other than share price.

After the Q2 pull forward sales due to price hike, it will be down slippery slope for 3M sales.. be prepared for more cuts. Share price expected to trend back toward $120 territory

@OP BB's schtick and "magic" has worn off with Wall Street. The share price is slumbering now under $150, down $30 bucks since February. There is ZERO organic growth. The guy created a faux-growth strategy with flashy words and promises from his Florida yacht that he knew he would never meet. Throw in how many cronies he hired from outside at SVP or higher levels. Now we get "hot foods" on Fridays in the Center - but still no service award dinners, Holiday lunches at the production plants, Everyday Wins has been buried for good.

Give me a tenth of his $20 million and I could easily find ways to motivate people with returns to some of the relatively inexpensive "perks" that 3M used to be known for.

This company will be broken into 4 or 5 pieces by 2028. Good riddance BB! Quiet Quitting is ramping up.

BB said it was not due to him that both CHRO and CIO left around the same month. We all know that people join companies but leave bosses!

@a6 I'm convinced he's not concerned about everyone having a desk because he plans on there being a lot less of us. Also some departments are probably being moved into the Triad, but he can't say anything about that yet.

@ey meanwhile in the UK we can now drop 1 day to 3 days in the office due to the price of fuel. If we had received a decent pay rise above inflation rate rather than below we might be available to afford fuel, and yet a 6% surcharge to our customers seems OK. The man needs to give his head a wobble.

@ey As long as he is reporting to the Yacht for work every day, that is fine. I mean the Board of Directors should be monitoring his badge records to make sure he is working from yacht at least 4 days a week.

How can you be out of touch when you live like this https://connorgaskins.com/homes/work/bay-colony-golf-estates-private-residence/

Town hall recap headline, "Bill Brown pushes to turn 3M cafeteria into soup kitchen for all the peasant workers."

Well. He needs to ensure he continues to earn in excess of $20,000,000 pa for next 3 years before he retires

I wouldn't care that Bill is out of touch except that my boss is an enthusiastic bootlicker, so she's desperate to get us all back in the office as much as possible, making sure we all do every little things we can for the performance behaviors, etc.

The corporate tedium is too much.

Anyone that talks to big Billy can see the only thing he cares about is investors and board, which if that all he cares about then whatever. The problem is he thinks other people think the same as he does and he seems clueless that’s not reality. All the performance behaviors nonsense he and the former HR lady rolled out was also a total joke. If he only realized we all just roll our eyes and go on with our day waiting for him and those puppets that report to him to all leave….meanwhile, let’s get more soups and hot desks.

Unfortunately whatever he was brought in to do he hasn’t done. In fact , There’s really been no creative ideas other than bring back things we have already done and cut.

@a8 I used to think he was just a d-bag who loved corpo-speak. Now I'm starting to wonder if he's showing signs of dementia. Thanks for trying to add more soups, BB! That comment was completely relevant!

Oh he comprehends. He just couldn't care less. Employee satisfaction is not a KPI so there is no point adressing it.

@a7 I wonder if the grill being open on Friday could be an opportunity for employment for the 80 soon to be unemployed people in Fairmont?

@a6 the fact that he laughed at the term “hot desk” showed how incredibly out of touch he is, IMO. But we gotta be in the office to build culture!

@a6 but at least the grill in the cafeteria is running on Fridays now!

“Is there a plan to have desks for everybody now that everybody is required to be in the office” was such a straightforward and valid question, and he evaded that as though the person had asked about criminal charges.

He wasn’t brought in to cater to you. He was brought in to fix the messes of past ceos and raise share price.
