Is the AI hype just a bubble, or is it a legitimate threat to our jobs? Curious to hear if you think it’s just a proof of concept or if we should actually be worried about workforce disruption.

Companies need a reason to reduce salaries. AI is a calculator. You have to interrogate lot to get good responses. It is not going to replace humans. But it will definitely make us efficient. It will allow work life balance. However, some companies think AI will help reduce head count. Talk to employees of these companies they are just having to work longer hours because of AI. So if AI is so good why are employees working longer hours.
Some companies used to flip flop between offshore and employees.
It seems like it’s disrupting many companies, I’d assume we would see something similar here.
It reminds me of the South Park episode in which all the plumbers and electricians became the new millionaires and were next to impossible to hire since they were in such high demand and no one else knew how to actually do any practical skills, hehe.
AI could most likely do the job of our call center. The call center has little if any ability to help with customer issues and usually responds to a caller's concern by reciting from a script. There may be some hesitation as this would further alienate our customers. However, given the understaffed stores/pharmacies, Cenfill and faulty apps we present to our customers, further dissatisfaction may not be a concern. The question is whether Sycamore is willing to make the investment. They may just follow the usual PE playbook and strip the company and sell it off, letting the next owner worry about technology investments. No doubt there are other "opportunities" within Walgreens for AI to do the job of humans. The call center is just an obvious example.
