That's one part of it. There are steps YOU need to take as well, like calling Fidelity, arranging benefits and more. The checklist is on HR OneStop. I left in the last 12 months so I'm familiar.
If you ignore some of the steps you may lose or delay earned benefits.

Yes there is an exit procedure. Yes there is an accident interview. Yes they check a lot of boxes. You need to go through all that in order to receive whatever benefits you're entitled to. You can find the high level details on the internet.
Yes HR has a list on life event charges. Instead of leaving, ask you mgr to be put on the layoff list. Worked for me

In two weeks - you just walk out the door and never go back. Wait and see how long it takes for the paychecks to stop rolling in.
