How much money would you need to have in your savings and checking accounts to feel comfortable telling WFC management to f-off and walk out, never to look back? No 401(k)s or other funds that you can't touch just yet. I'm talking strictly about your savings and checking accounts.

Why does it matter what anyone else thinks is enough to quit? Open a spreadsheet and make a budget - you work at a bank and should be able to figure this one out
Depends on your salary expectations. Easier to get a low paying job.
One year’s worth of expenses including health insurance out of pocket maximums and unexpected home repairs.
I actually do have it, but I’m hoping for a package too. They could fire me tomorrow and I would skip away laughing, and that’s the plan.
Nothing like a nice big pile of FU money to lower your stress level. Beats any two week vacation or new car. My ride is ten years old and I could buy a new car for cash tomorrow, but I prefer money in the bank. Money is freedom.
Coworker needed almost 18 months to find something and that was during the ultra low unemployment times. Others found something in a few weeks. Depends on your risk appetite.
3-6 months of bills and living expenses covered should be plenty. You can always find quick work to make a buck while searching for that permanent job replacement. Remember to take into account the portion of health insurance that WF pays for you as it will all be on you after you quit.
$200k to quit without anything lined up. Especially as we approach a recession and jobs become much harder to find. Now all the big tech forms are starting to lay off
One years pay minimum. Better yet…3M cash and I’m never going back to this soul sucking rat race.
I saved a year’s gross salary (six figures) during the pandemic. Best thing I ever did. I gave myself a deadline to find another employer and if I didn’t hit it, I was ready to quit right after bonus. I got another gig but I’m still sitting on a year’s salary+ now. I don’t worry about being laid off, at all, because I’m prepared.
Invest in yourselves, folks. Even if little by little be consistent and it will pay off.
Depends on how in-demand your skills are in the market. I’d say 6 months salary to feel safe.
Finding another job doesn’t cost anything. Find something else and go.
5 million dollars
at least 6 months of salary
