So last July I was in SIU and got forced, with a two day notice, to move to Fire Claims. It took me 15 years to get to SIU, enjoyed my job and got good level 3 & 4 ratings. I do not have any fire claims experience. I absolutely loathe Fire claims and miserable every day. This place is a total sh-t hole! So our SM was in our huddle this week and basically said we are overstaffed in certain areas in Fire claims and we should expect some changes coming soon. Going to need less people...also there will be no new hiring in 2026! I've only been out of training now for 8 months and basically what they are trying to do is fire anyone and everyone due to overstaffing. This really is a complete and total evil clueless company! Stay away and go find something else to do!

Yeah our leaders are too cowardly to reduce staff by choice. So our company loses people who can leave and protects the bad workers. If you werent going to quit having to leave SIU then youll surely quit from a department with insane turnover? No? Well then we will force people out....we wont fire anyone though, because thats mean, and thats more important than a properly running company.
But yeah, claims is a meatgrinder by design, they very much want you to leave after a year in claims.
Oh and they will need more claims people and SIU people shortly after they get rid of people, happens every time they force reassign, since they are so shortsighted on staffing they usually end up needing to hire again in 6mo from every department that loses people. Which just insanely bad way to treat employees.
I think this is by far the worst aspect of state farm, reassigning people by force after youve worked so hard to get there, and they always drop you into the worst meatgrinder department possible in claims.
Why has it been acceptable for over a decade to have such a horrific claims department, both fire and auto? its clearly by design an a choice at this point.
Claims has such a horrific and earned reputation at the company, and no one cares. I have to be f'ing perfect in my role 100% of the time or have a good explanation (and i will have to explain) so why do managers get a free pass failing totally in this regard?
FIX YOUR CLAIMS DEPARTMENTS ALREADY YOU LAZY INCOMPETENT MANAGERS
If you are being forced to claims from U/W do not do it! Place is an insane asylum! Worse than you can imagine!
Hilarious they are having to do emergency surveys for California and Missouri for last two weeks because we are so crooked and incompetent. Our Fire Claims area is so useless it is a walking disaster and the regulators are crawling down our throats. This whole company needs to be shut down!
