Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Meta's New Change. Can Oracle Adopt ?

Heard from my friend that Meta is moving all Middle Managers and Directors to IC roles. Keeping Senior Management lean. This way it can identify whom it can let go quickly.

Should Oracle follow same ?

@bn These are still favoritised layoffs. More layoffs to come. There are ongoing discussions to reduce 30-40% of workforce with multiple layoffs and optimize workforce.

I was surprised that little or no Middle Managers, Directors and VPs were really cut in layoffs. My world is still very very top heavy.

@a1 big payouts won't stop them. Those are a 1 time cost vs maintaining a highly paid and marginally skilled person indefinitely. Laws like these will prevent the good jobs from coming to your country and the EU in the future.

in Canada this is referred to as constructive dismissal and is not possible. lot of layoffs with big severance payments for middle management and directors if this happens.

Directors would get at least 1 month per year worked.
