This isn’t 1999. The plan to feed dslams with fiber is ancient technology. Never coming back. It’s cheaper to run fiber to the house which is all any company has putting resources into for 10 years.

I have heard execs talk about reinventing copper to ultimately make it a more profitable enterprise. Makes sense to me, the fiber backbone will support a lot more throughput to copper lines. Corporate seems quite hesitant to make any investment there. I heard about new fiber to the home years ago locally, other competitors have now done it, but new corporate vision & new plan. We could have saved a lot of revenue by offering outstanding customer care on every level. Instead copper appears to be doomed unless somebody on top invests a little care someplace to make copper make more money long term. Dial up lead to DSL. Big jump. Figure it out!! Big money is still on the table if you find a new way.
When has leadership ever been clear and transparent?
As long as honor and keep the pension funded along with retiree health benefits. This is the path they have chosen not that I agree with it , hopefully for once they know what they're doing.
The leadership said in the town hall they will be clear and transparent, let’s see. There are also big changes being implemented in several areas to support customers better so feels for now things are looking up I guess we will find out
Most small wire centers will be done for in 2027 or 2028.

BEEP! BEEP! BEEEP!
Time to wake up!
Copper isn't dead....yet.
Just read the email from Alexis. Bottom line, they will continue to support sites that are profitable and shutdown those that are not...common sense.
Those saying that all copper will be shutdown soon are just naysayers.
Saw this
Speaking at the Raymond James Investor conference on March 2, Chief Financial Officer Christopher Stansbury said the revenue from its voice and DSL consumer copper business is declining by "low double digits" every year, but due to valuation multiples in the "low single digits," the business isn't worth selling. Instead, the operations throw off "an enormous amount of cash, which is allowing us to invest in our enterprise aspirations," he said.
What truth are you looking for exactly? Let me take a guess: Exact Date and Time the lights get shutoff? The truth is: the sooner, the better off for Lumens AI Layer 1 strategy! I would prepare for most NOT seeing it through this 3 year contract...
They are riding along to come up with excuses to 86 everyone.
2 businesses in my area in the last 2 weeks have been told we are discontinuing their dsl by June. They are in 2 different locations. 1 in a city the other in a town.
It’s gonna be the usual. Copper is being phased out no matter how many FCC complaints we have. SRO’s will be saddled with larger regions and the few cable techs we have left will have an un-fu-----e amount of tickets to handle, since we have a ton of Ds1, Ds0 and POTS customers still.
We have “consultants” riding around with cable techs tomorrow. Why. No idea.
