The CFO is actually very good. In fact, DXC has had mostly very good CFO's. The problem is the CFO does not care if the company satisfies customers, has successful projects, transforms bad internal systems, takes care of employees, stock price rises, etc. . The measures of the CFO are the financial measures, and the DXC CFO's have been very, very, good at making sure on paper DXC looks reasonably successful - financially. The board and the analysts are at fault for not seeing through the smoke screen of the financial reports. Stock Buybacks, and ways to increase Free Cash are ways the CFO can make a company look better than it really is. Book to bill is not really relevant to a primarily IT service company like DXC. DXC has had great CFO's, just bad executives and leaders in every other part of the company. The board needs to change the reward mechanisms for executive leadership to ones that are actually meaningful. Currently, customer and employee satisfaction are not even on the list. Not even talked about.
Does anyone actually know how to deliver a modern IT project. On time, with testable, supportable and maintainable code? I don't think they care. The people who do left already because DXC make it near impossible with lack of tools and access. But they don't want quick. They want to bill forever and never deliver. That's the business model.
Yep, some the lower level managers/team-leaders are amongst the worst. They take the extra workload without pay rises so they can slack off and abuse their subordinates.
Some of them are absolutely vile.
B players brought in safe bet C players.
C players brought in no threat D players.
D players brought in whoever-is-available E players.
E players brought in whoever-kissed-their-b-tt-better F players... and so on
So now you got L-level leadership at the helm in DXC. This is the loser tier.
Very soon, we will descend to Z-level for zero skill.
Rest assured though the alphabet may run out of letters but incompetence at DXC will keep finding new depths.
