Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Management Preference of L1 Over Residents

Seeing massive movement by management to bring people from IDC => USA by using L1 visa. This helps them to get over the 100k H1b rule by first bringing people inside using l1 visa and then following year applying for H1b visa. Given the layoffs have always targeted residents over visa holders. Now even new grads using F1 won't get a chance. There must be a way to report this as well ?

Indians hire non-Indians so that they have someone to lay.off when the time comes.

@cc I was hired by an Indian and I am not Indian. Yeah, this could be the exception and not the rule.

For 25 years I worked with hundreds of Indians. I haven't seen a single case when Indian hires non-Indian. Chinese don't do that, for instance, so no, it's not normal.

L1 roles do not pay well, which is an issue they will eventually encounter. I haven't seen many L1s at Oracle, except in cases where managers show favoritism toward a few individuals, bringing them in under the pretext of being exceptional workers.
the L-1A/B to PERM path has a major "ticking clock" problem that many people overlook until it's too late, need to catch H1 Train soon.

There is no need to convert L1 to H1-B as they are valid for 3 years and by then the person has already stated the PERM process and probably gotten a work authorization.
