Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Summer Internships

My kid has a summer internship at Pepsi this summer. It looks like the company is having some challenges currently. Does anyone know if Pepsi ever rescinds internships in the past? Any advice or guidance anyone could offer?

Yes- and if you get an internship and are consistently told by managers that they’d be shocked if you didn’t get an offer during your summer… you’re not getting an offer nor any constructive feedback. Pepsi fails to do any planning for interns and they lie about conversion rates.

Simple answer. Yes, They’ve been known to rescind offers.

@b7 Not negative, but it was a bit of a condescending lecture, which I'm sure OP was not looking for when he asked for "advice or guidance."

@b3

OP never stated that their kid is a son, so why did you presume that?

Also, the 1st reply wasn't negative, but your bent mind perceiving it as such says a lot about you.

Hopefully OP's offspring won't have any direct interaction with you at work during their internship!

@OP
PepsiCo internships are great and I never heard of any being rescinded. It’s highly unlikely . I Hope your son enjoys it . ( ignore the first reply you got from some mo--n - too much negativity)

Why worry about something you have no control over, and which no one is in a position here to give you a definitive answer?

If the internship is rescinded, that would su-k for your kid, but it's a teaching moment you have help them with in learning lessons about life: Nothing is ever guaranteed. Things are always subject to change. Always have a Plan B. Things happen for a reason. Be resiliant, not defeated...find something else, stay confident in yourself, because business decisions are about money more than people.

Also, don't be a helicopter parent.
Let them learn on their own, advocate for themselves, and make mistakes without you running to pick up the pieces. This is how successfully independent adulthood is forged. Nice that you care enough to inquire about this, though. Some people's parents couldn't care less about what's going on with their sons and daughters.

Have a good summer!
