Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

I think I wasted my time and energy hating my former manager and director...

So after I was laid off last year, I grew a deep seated hatred for my director and manager for my departure. My resentment knew no bounds. I cursed them everyday for sticking me in this godforsaken job market. I imagined them laughing at me and my misery.

After finding nothing for almost 6 months and wishing I was dead and gone, my hatred for my prior leadership still driving me strong, I've come to learn that they were recently dismissed at the beginning of the year and recently today.

I now feel an emptiness I can't describe. All this time hating and letting it drive my passion to surpass them and land a better opportunity, and I now feel like I don't know like I wasted my time wishing them despair. I hate them for putting me in this situation, but now they're in the same boat as me. It feels weird learning that they're gone too from T-Mobile and I don't know anymore.

You had a life changing decision made by someone who wasnt fit for the job. Rage at the org not at the patsy. Ive seen alot of that.

Please don't waste your sympathy on management. They were willing to sacrifice your position to secure their own. It’s karma and poetic justice that the same management that was willing to cut staff to look good to their superiors eventually got cut themselves. Your situations are not the same. They have golden parachutes to land on. They are also granted longer Cobra coverage. They got to their positions by being well-connected and knowing how to talk the talk. Impacted leadership will land just fine. Your management will happily brag in resumes and interviews how they saved X amount of dollars by reducing costs (cutting your and your coworkers jobs).

My manager once told me my performance was not good enough for a promotion- after doing exactly what he had asked for in multiple career growth meetings.

I moved to another team. He gets laid off. Now he’s in my LinkedIn dm. 🤨

@a8 I would agree on this one although it definitely is bounced off the director ( CEC level at least ) , if you think it's not you're delusional. I saw lots of people with great performance and feedback get laid off and the only mistake they made was speaking up. T-Mobile is headed into the dumpster at warp speed.

They just want a constant churn of yes-men employees who are too new to call bullsh-t on all of the sh-t they are pulling.

It really is like pulling a short straw. I don’t get it, Freier’s team is hiring right now, while we just experienced layoffs on Lau’s team where we can’t even get our projects built..
This company makes no sense, don’t try to make it make sense.
Good luck on your job hunt, probably in the same boat soon.

You realize your manager and director most likely had no say over your layoff and probably didn’t even know you were on the list until right before it happened.

These lists are made way about their pay grade.
