I've been working two separate roles at Nike, simultaneously. They let go one whole department last month for one of my positions. And they just offered me half the pay I was getting for my other position. I plan to make next week my last week.

@jx I love it how everyone claims to be leaving with great jobs from Nike and when you search for them on LinkedIn it's more like lateral moves or sometimes even with something less than.
@ag I am the OP. I've already been offered a great job (that I had been interviewing for over the past 3 weeks) - so, yes, tomorrow is my last day at Nike.
I would have left anyway. They make you wear their footwear on site and it's god awful uncomfortable. They can't even make sneakers that fit properly. The big debate is if I leave the sneakers at the front door on the way out.
…the company being around long after any of us leaves is becoming more and more questionable. Elon (and a few others) could now buy us as a joke.
@ft
fantasy land
the stock value is a fictitious number that can go to 0 quickly
see the Weimar republic
Apple = runs third world plantations with great marketing for id--ts
Microsoft = a rotting company, everything it touches dies
Google = stock scam, what does it produce, looks like it takes money to manipulate the population
Nike's relevance was tied to the culture. That culture has been shredded. Bye Bye Nike.
@az agreed
Apple, Google, Microsoft => strong stock & culture
Nike => weak stock & culture
No one does a thing despite thousands of complaints.
@ah is there even a legacy! Or a future? Our stock is in the trash! Employees are working for toxic leaders all the way to the top. We’ve lost our identity and don’t know if we are making running shoes or pairing up with the next criminal in Hollywood.
Back in the day employees weren’t treated like trash. They were valued and having morals mattered. Take a look around. That doesn’t exist anymore. We have b*tlickers and unethical leaders from the top! Perhaps that’s why the company has gone to sit!
@ag
'I wasn’t kidding…seriously, nobody cares if you leave. You’ll be forgotten within weeks. The company was around before you got here. It will be around after you leave'
Yup, its legacy and future will be found in many garage sales.
You aren’t going anywhere OP and you know it. People who actually plan on leaving just do it. Those who only fantasize about leaving come here and, suffering from “I’m the main character” syndrome, make a dramatic pronouncement about their imminent departure. As if they think it’s almost a sort of “threat” or something. LOL! And as if anyone cares anyway.
OP, let me bring you back to reality:
Nike would be very happy to see you voluntarily remove yourself from the trough known as “a paycheck”. You’d be doing them a favor.
I wasn’t kidding…seriously, nobody cares if you leave. You’ll be forgotten within weeks. The company was around before you got here. It will be around after you leave.
You’re one of, what, around 75,000 employees? By design no single employee is irreplaceable. Although I’d guess Nike won’t be replacing most departures anyway. And if they did replace your job they’d have 300 applicants within 48 hours of posting it. Of course, you already know this. It’s just one of several reasons why you won’t be going anywhere.
Finally…
- “It’s all funny because it’s true.”
Celebrate the win while Nike is a loser. Congrats on getting out while the level of toxicity is at an all time high.
@OP more power to you. Nike has a culture of toxicity, micro-managers, control, fear, and underperformance. Everyone who feels like you needs to depart - all the pink slips are coming anyway as the stock races to zero
