Thread regarding Fidelity National Information Services Inc. layoffs

If you can, go out on FMLA. Get a doctor to get you a mental recovery month.

Sure would be a great time to take FMLA for anyone that can. It puts your job on hold and they cannot legally release you during that time.

FMLA does not protect you if your position was eliminated especially if they can show it was part of a mass layoff. I know of someone who was on FMLA during a RIF. They called her at home and let her go.

As discussions here involve what is happening, there are some people feeling desperate and frightened about their family and financial situation, this is not weakness. It is not failure. They are suffering silently. This is the time to reach out and support each other wherever you may be in this process. Everyone handles this kind of extreme pressure differently. There is no one size fits all. If anyone has gone quiet, check on them. As another commenter said elsewhere, you can be replaced at your work, but your family, friends and loved cannot replace you. There are solutions to this crisis. Stay here to figure out what yours might be. If you live in the United States, you can call 988 for help. Let someone know that you need their help.

@am "burnout," no. Anxiety, depression or PTSD, absolutely. Discuss your symptoms with your doctor. Make a list of everything. This is not advice, but it must recognized by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manuel 5. This is the dictionary of mental health diagnoses. Think about what is interfering with your ability to work, are you have trouble eating, sleeping, concentrating on your work, abusing substances to cope, irritability, panic attacks, etc.. Again, NOT advice, since "burnout" is not recognized in the DSM 5. You are not required to reveal your diagnosis to FIS to eligible for FMLA. Be mindful of discussing this with colleagues in order to maintain your privacy.

To anyone that needs these services, please note that the US does not consider “burnout” as a valid condition. It’s not officially recognized in this context. Your doctor will want other valid diagnoses to be able to fill out FMLA as previous commenter mentioned. I also believe you must be established with a primary care doctor. Someone I know was unable to get intermittent FMLA through hospitals or specialists, even as an established patient. Still worth a shot regardless.

Please take care of yourselves. A company can replace you, but your friends and family cannot. That’s what really matters.

Absolutely see to yourselves now. For US employees, make a doctor's appointment, anxiety and stress are reasons for a Leave of Absence under the Family Medical Leave Act. Please discuss this with your own doctor. Apply for leave via Metlife online. Apply with your own state for Disability payments. Beacon handles FIS EAP. For your six counseling appointments provided, contact Carelon Behavioral Health at 877.851.4412. Their therapists are handled through Talk Space. Carelon will direct you to their website to make an appointment. You will be matched with a therapist or psychiatrist who can see you quickly. Most have Saturday appointments. It can all be done via audio only, text or audio/video appointments. Unpack your sh-t with them at their expense. It is vitally important to call 988 if you are in crisis. You are not alone.

For those working through a notice period, you’re FMLA eligible as long as you’re employed. Please take care of yourselves and your families first. The EAP can also provide additional resources.

My manager at Fiserv did this. For 6+ months. Fiserv was required to pay her + insurance.

Real smart move if you hate the company.
