You weren't here before all this cr-p started, but it started going down when Sales stop running the place, and accountants took over!

All companies are the same - they exist to give shareholders they best return for their money. You are a number who exchanges time for money. They want to pay as little as possible, we want to work as little as possible. That is the game. Rest of it is just bs.

Many, many years ago, I considered working for Oracle. I loved the products and thought "Why not work for the Mothership"? In the end, I was concerned about working even more hours than I was working in my job at the time and gave it a pass. I'm, by no means, exceptionally talented and, in retrospect, got a feeling, had I been hired, would've received the boot even well before this.

@a7 If you were indeed smart, you would understand that my statement made no complaint, just the observation.

Equally you presume, incorrectly, that I had no other options.

I suspect you are smart in the way people like Donald Trump are smart - they are the only ones who think so.

I don't think this is incorrect. Before I joined my perception was that it was a pretty bad company from the outside looking in, but I did have people on the inside saying it was good. The money was good so I went for it and it was good for many years. Totally happy. The last couple have been like doing a slow walk through a land mine field and watching all of your colleagues going down around you while you are praying to make it through unharmed. Pretty awful now. Maybe old me was right, but I guess it doesn't really matter now.

@OP If you knew that and joined, having other options, you are not too smart, to say the least. If you joined not having other options, you may be not too smart again -- but what to complain about in this case, anyway?

I joined Oracle not considering it poorly and my multi-year experience made me believe that it's been a very good company. But I am smart and worked hard and usefully there.

It wasn't "sh1t" when I joined many moons ago - however of late has become a little "interesting". There used to be the concept of staff being the lifeblood of the company but more so these days they seems be little more than annoyance.

To be honest you have no better choice, if you have Google or Apple offer , will you join Oracle?
