Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

NFL Draft / Pittsburgh commuters

Why have all other financial institutions and businesses in downtown notified their employees to work from home throughout this month due to the road closures and parking closures but there’s silence from BNY?

Not only are road closures already occurring so that the city can begin cleanup and putting up structures but it’s going to be nearly impossible to get close to or find parking near the office.

Work with your manager on this. Our whole team was told to use work from home exceptions for this event. I think people who take buses in to town will not be as impacted as people who drive in.

Silence from BNY, no communication per usual.

Track the managers, because they will be working remotely

Via Post-Gazette.

Some companies, though, are operating as usual. BNY, one of Downtown Pittsburgh’s largest employers, said it does not plan on changing its four-day in-office requirement before, during or after the draft.

“We encourage everyone to follow local travel guidance, and we have communicated to our employees to make necessary arrangements if their commutes are temporarily impacted,” said BNY communications Vice President Kaitlin Newingham.

It is because BNY is not a real company and will soon be out of business. My guess by 2028 the way things are going. Fingers crossed it’s sooner!

Psychological projection is an unconscious defense mechanism where individuals attribute their own unacceptable thoughts, feelings, or motives onto another person.

By displacing negative emotions like jealousy, guilt, or insecurity onto others, a person avoids confronting their own inner discomfort. It is used to protect self-esteem but often damages relationships.

If I had to bet, I’d say the wed-fri of that week might be exempted. The reality is though that a big event like the draft isn’t really an excuse not to get to the office. Take public transit or park further and hop on a busway/the T. It’s nice if there’s an exemption but it’s not like it’s impossible for you to get to the office to do your in-person job.

@OP Because, as we all know, when you WFH, you don't actually work. You lay in bed til 10, do your household chores, work on your side hustle or simply scratch your nuts in front of the TV.

In short you are an untrustworthy wretch.

Now get back to work peasant.

"The week of exemptions during the snow storm is limiting their options."

Because, heaven forbid we offer flexibility on more than one occasion? Imagine the unspeakable horrors unleashed if we did! 😱

Communication is expected this week. On site leadership is discussing the scope of exemption. The week of exemptions during the snow storm is limiting their options.

Patience. We only terminate quickly in this bank.
