Any rumors about a higher ed sales layoff?

@3fr it’s definitely a different climate these days. Since Pearson no longer provides severance pay….you're much better off to proactively look for another job before any layoffs (if there actually will be any) happen.
Please lay me off and put me out of my misery. Working on campus these days is horrible!!!
Editorial and Marketing were cut first and next will be sales. That has been the game book for years. Late bonus plan may also signify changes coming.
Get ready for a surprise.
I would be really surprised if there were layoffs in highered core- otherwise we would not have been told to book travel for summer regional meetings.
Big layoffs coming this summer. Changes implemented at regional meetings in August. Hold onto your butts!
"Non consistent goal makers will be first to go."
It always amuses me when I see people posting this, because that is never the way things work in reality. Headcount reductions are a numbers game, both in terms of how expensive (e.g. tenured) a sales employee is and in terms of what geography they cover. "Can our Kansas City territory be covered by the three surrounding reps? Okay, let's lose KC Casey and we'll reassign her schools to the bordering reps." The KC employee could have been rep of the year, it doesn't matter. Headcount reductions are very calculated and usually have little to do with performance.
Market gain has been low for higher ed for years so it would make sense. K12 has closed so little business that I would suspect a leadership change.
Yes, major reorganization this summer. Reduction of field DMs and Reps. Non consistent goal makers will be first to go. The current structure is no longer sustainable.
@OP I would not be surprised by a cut/reorg of the K12 sales team with the formation of the Career Ready group. The rank-and-file have lots of concerns but there has been no information shared outside of that specific team, which is probably a bad sign for those of us outside of it.
