Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Last day Friday- Question/Brain dump about leaving

I know we have an exit survey but is there something called compliance questions?

Been at the company for 9 years and after the past few months, it opened my eyes and realized I need to get out. Over the past 3 years, my team has underwent so many reductions, this month 7 are leaving to a new department and I somehow managed to dodge all of it. Essentially the team will be cut in half next month and I’d be doing the work of two people- two different roles.

Last week I put in my resignation, I found another job with a different company. I’m nervous and excited. I’ve been so paranoid about losing my job that I’m on edge that it’ll happen with this new company. This is not healthy. Hopefully I’ll be able to get over it.

@tb, if that's true they were really breaking some protocols there and I wonder how HR would have reacted to knowing that. I was sent an email that one or more unnamed people on my team would be receiving it and instructed that I was not permitted to ask anything about it during the decision period. If the employee(s) chose to come to me to discuss it, then it was OK to discuss with them. If anyone on my team had taken it, I would have received notification of who did after the decision period ended. Instead, I just got an email that said no one did, but it did not name names of who was offered.

That's seriously messed up what they did, I can only hope someone reported that violation to HR.

@h9 Interesting that Cigna/HR said you don't have to tell your manager if you accept VRP. There's at least one internal department where everyone was told that even if they receive the email offering VRP, they're not allowed to accept and they need to notify their manager asap. Seemed fishy and unfair.

@gz The talking out of it part is interesting to me. When I took the VRP last year I was told we don’t have to tell our managers. Supposedly that was so they wouldn’t try to talk us out of it. But, when you apply for another position internally you’re expected to inform your manager. I know that’s so they don’t get blindsided if the hiring manager reaches out to them but it still didn’t make much sense.

Took VRP. They tried to talk me out of it. I don’t regret my decision one bit. The company is toxic. Everyone is out to save themselves. I don’t want or need to be a part of this. Good luck to you. You’ll find you made the best decision ever.
