Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Can I volunteer to be on the list?

I'm interviewing now and may get an offer soon. If I do, can I volunteer to be laid off to get a package?

Short answer having been there - yes you can volunteer, do it quietly to your immediate manager. Don't advertise it. BUT, be aware that it's not something that happens immediately. You let your manager know, and the next time he/she gets a headcount reduction request, your name can be added. Quite common for those nearing retirement that would like to collect a severance on the way out.

I think you guys misunderstood. I believe what he says is that he is about to get an offer outside of Oracle, so he wants to be on the list and get an extra package, instead of just resigning and getting nothing. I know other big companies like Google which has voluntary leaving policies earlier. Some folks just get a job outside while getting a package from Google too.

This person is a troll and a liar. There are no offers that I'm aware of being given out now.

I actually am interviewing for a role in Oracle and successfully completed the total of 7 interviews (if you count the recruiter screen) about 2 weeks ago. I was at the point where they decided to hire me and we were going to get into the offer phase. I was told my req is suspended because there is a corporate freeze.

My interviews were allowed to continue because my req is a tier 0 critical req. My req has a good chance of surviving the reassessment of open positions occurring right now because it is tier 0. I was told last week that I should know in about 2-3 weeks by recruiter management.

If somebody were "interviewing right now" and "maybe getting an offer soon" then they aren't an employee yet and there would be no such thing as volunteering for a layoff. You have to be employed to be laid off. Not only that, they're full of it because all reqs are suspended at the moment.

I am an ex Oracle employee as well and I have many contacts inside the company from years of working there. My management friends told me the freeze was coming and they were right.

Yes, you can. They have Volunteering product for that, just create a new project looking for volunteers to be laid off 😂

Yes just send an email to HR. Say you can't cut it and ask to be placed on the list. You will have to compete with no one as you clean out your cubicle. Will happen fast and you will be rich in your new job at the BK lounge

What would be the purpose? If you’ve actually followed the conversations here you would know any severance is based upon years of service. Don’t except the job dipsh*t
