AT&T has taught me that pay is not the only (or even the most important) thing to pay attention to when accepting a job. I've refused two offers so far after I did some research and realized that their company culture is just as toxic as ours. I'm not going to leave just to end up in the same situation as here even if the pay is better. I also try to determine if the position has room for advancement. Then and only then do I calculate the pay into my decision.

If the building has been cleaned in the last 6 months and the restrooms have toilet paper and hand soap available.
I find a way to the kitchen are and see what snacks are available. If they stock their snacks, you know it's gonna be a good place to work at. It's the fine details like that.
The day your start work all your pre-planning for the job you want goes out the window. The day I started I was immediately reassigned to another manager as mine was moving to another org. I was in IT and a programmer way back then and our director wanted me to move to a non-programming position managing an application help desk. I told my immediate manager I was a programmer and can I talk to the director. After getting an OK, I did. He really wanted me to make the move. I didn't. Then he said he thought it was good for me. I said nope. And something like it's "probably not going to happen." I won. So anything can happen to you when you start.
i pay attention to who the manager i will be working for is. If he looks like an azzhole then immediately i turn it down.
I look for easy access to good lunch spots
I’ve turned down some big roles this past year. I look for red flags mostly. No it’s not all about the money. If the job is something I’m interested in, then I’ll take less pay to do something I’d enjoy; however, I haven’t gotten on of those jobs yet. They are all jobs, I work for a paycheck. If I enjoy what I’m doing, that’s a bonus. I do expect to be treated professionally and hopefully work with some smart and talented people. So some things I look out for: Tenure - ask how long the interviewer has worked there. If they say 1-2 years, could be a red flag. Ask how they like working there - if they give you a pc answer, red flag. Ask about expectations for someone in this role, specifically 1st year - if they say deliver xyz in the next 8 months and you know that’s a huge stretch, run. If the interviewer or senior boss seems like an a-ho-e, run. If your gut tells you, this isn’t a good place, run. Att isn’t as bad as everyone makes it out to be; though some teams are way worse than others. I’ve never seen someone get marched into an office and fired here just because. I have seen that at many other companies I’ve worked for in the past and learned to identify those red flags.
I like to know the company doesn't have or resemble the letters A..T..&..T.. Other than that, most companies already have an upper hand.
Seriously, AT&T has no interest in education or knowledge. You could go get 3 MS degrees and they would still tell you to shut up and to do things the way they have been done for decades. There is not value in education or new ideas no matter what management desires. They only value the decades old status quo that kisses the a-s of the person with the loudest voice.
Who’s gonna be your boss, good boss, good boss, good boss, you can have more money or better position and the boss make you spend it on mental health, blood pressure and health sh-t that comes with the BS.
i look for good looking people that dress well.

I didn't fully understand that the pension was minimal. Should have become a teacher, fireman or State/Federal employee.
There are no concession benefits and
vacation time was cut.
I seek pay only. I work for money and no other reason. Would you ever work if you were wealthy- no. So why would anything but money matter. Nobody works for free because the culture is great.
The company with the best culture I’ve ever witnessed had their employees working 80 hours a week.
I look for job security most of all. I check the organizations history of layoffs. I avoid very large companies and Telcom for that reason.
You are probably going to be able to find bad reviews for most organizations.
