Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Dell continues to quietly shrink its workforce

Dell Technologies has reduced its workforce for the third consecutive year, reflecting a broader shift in the tech industry toward AI and efficiency over headcount growth.

I don’t mind working for a company knowing my number could be drawn at any moment. The pressure doesn’t bother me, at least I have a job.

Dell isn’t “failing” it’s evolving.
But the tradeoff is clear - fewer employees, more automation, and a big bet on AI driving the future.

Natural progression for all companies.

Yes, it's not much compared to Meta or Amazon.

Dell is re-organizing the company, while other companies are pivoting or restructuring their workforce.

Dell's goal is to increase its revenue per employee, they have been doing great since they doubled the amount of money in the last 6 years (from $500K to over 1 million dollars). However, i firmly believe that employee attrition is going to bring a financial disaster to the company since they've been ignoring the human limits of their employees.

Intel 27k, UPS 48k, MS 15k, Meta 11k, FedEx 12K, Amazon 30k, Citi 20k...trying to make a post seem as though Dell is the only company laying people off is delusional. If anything, we are laying off way less than most

@a5 they also had the perfect opportunity to revitalize the company when they acquired EMC. Instead they squandered it and sold off the VMware golden goose.

I beg to differ on the not failing spin.

Dell is failing and failing miserably. Look at every market segment. Dell has tried to enter - networking, security, virtual, cloud, data management, CRM - all faulures.

The only thing Dell knows how to do is assemble parts for PCs, servers, and laptops. That's all it ever has known how to do.
