I’m currently remote and looking to relocate with my spouse, who just received a great offer in a different city. While the bank doesn't have an office in that specific city, it does operate within that state (the nearest office is about 4 hours away so I will have to continue remote). Has anyone remote (geocode C) successfully made a move like this in the last 3 to 6 months while staying remote?

GK has openly stated and her minions committee have dutifully parroted that "efficiency" (cost cutting) is the word for 2026. Employees are the biggest expenses so they will be looking to cut anyone who strays from their current setup. It is a VERY risky move and I would not bring HR in to the mix. You could ask your manager if you trust them but they will need to send it up the chain or get HR involved. A savvy manager CAN make it happen if they are motivated to retain you.
It depends on your current role, but it's really hard. Not impossible, but chances are VERY slim.

No one needs anyones permission to resign. Thank you very much. If they pull that on me I would resign on the spot and have them take care of the sh-t that WILL hit the fan.
I was told that if someone is remote and was hired as such, they can move where ever they want because it wont affect your pay scale (outside of state taxes). The opposite applies to an FTE looking to move remote. My co-worker wanted to move to a different state and not near a hub to take care of their sick and dying mother. They told her they'd have to resign to do so.

In 2024, I knew a colleague whose husband was active duty military and was getting stationed in Japan. This wasn’t the first time he had been relocated overseas and typically this employee was able to continue working remote. But flash forward to 2024 and the company kicked back her request and this individual had to leave the bank to find work elsewhere.
Bottom line, if the bank won’t honor a military spouse’s commitment to her husband actively serving our country in uniform (while also proclaiming to be then best military friendly employer), they won’t honor anyone else’s situation.

@OP. This is a slippery slope. The bank is very active in remote workforce reduction right now. Your first step is to ask your manager and/or HR. Your role, what geo code you’re moving to, your grade and any active strategies your department is working towards will all factor in. We are NOT in a time where the bank is keen on approving remote location moves unless your role has already been tagged as approved remote.
Ask your manager. Most likely will need approval from the head of your business unit. If they say no, what are you going to do?
@a5 He is moving to a different state. Unless I am missing something, he will need to disclose in Workday as it would impact his taxes ... as someone said HR might be helpful here.
@OP If you're already remote, I would not disclose the move.
depends which department you're in? if that department is axing those remote positions yea chances will be slim (unless you got some kind of medical condition that doesn't allow you to rto)
I doubt it given that GK and her clown committee is looking to cut staff at all costs so they will use this as a reason but maybe someone who works in HR can answer?
