Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Senior Sales System Engineer 2

Anybody currently work this role or know someone in it? Looking for any reports how you like the role and your day-to-day functions. Also if targets are achievable or there is high turnover in the role.

My top question is how are you going to get mom & pop businesses to sign up for full-priced business internet and value adds (cybersecurity products, etc.) when their son probably set them up with a $35/mo T-Mobile home internet with better diversity than any wireline connection? It doesn't matter if you have a better SLA for dedicated internet, if you're within range of 2-3 cell towers, all of them would have to go out in order to notice any interruption in service.

Depends on what segment you support. If it’s Mid-Markets run.

Most of the people I know who have been laid off were in similar sales positions. There is no upside to these jobs and they cut them constantly. I assume the pay is good or they would not be able to fill them at all. If you take it, plan to stay less than 3 years and move to a better company.

Very demanding role from what I have heard. Not sure about the turnover rates.

@OP, I believe this is the nature of many/all Sales jobs — but Sales has the highest turnover here. A combination of a very demanding job with high expectations, resulting in burnout or worse. They are always hiring in Sales.
