Again, your assumption that h1b workers are brought on the cheap is WRONG. In many cases, they are paid MORE. This information is public. Look it up for your employer's h1b salary data. Plus the labor condition application data is published at your work location. Check out the numbers - the employer posts it on your break room notice board. If you have objections, you have a chance to speak up. Furthermore, h1b costs company much overhead in the for of legal fee, application fee, admin overhead etc.

Your assumption that merely having citizenship is going to get you preference is also WRONG. This is a private business, not charity or patriotic endeavor. Shareholders own the company. They have risked their hard earned money into the business expecting solid returns. Shareholders obligation is to pay taxes on their earning and nothing more, They are free to hire whoever they want - as log as the process is legal. Employing you and assuring you a salary is the last thing on the shareholder's minds. Earning an income is YOUR problem and you have to figure out your way forward. Please consider joining the military if you think that is the main advantage you have; you will not have competition from foreigners.

Some assume that the company should hire or keep people with outdated training. WRONG again. Companies are not meant to be training institutes. They want people to hit the ground running. Nowhere in the world does a company hires to train people at mid to senior levels; interns are an exception.

IMO, you shouldn’t be laying off American workers and then getting h1b approvals. That right there tells you all you need know. There are plenty of technical grads coming out of school every semester looking for work that they could hire; however, it’s cheaper to import the slave Indian labor that works for 1/3rd or more less than they pay an American. When they get into leadership roles, they remove all the American workers and replace them with Indians. Just look at an org chart for proof. They discriminate

If the stated justification for issuing H‑1B visas is that the U.S. workforce lacks certain skills, then the logical focus should be on strengthening our own talent pipeline. Instead of importing workers, we should prioritize bringing in highly qualified instructors and professors who can teach those skills here at home. In other words, the goal shouldn’t be to replace American employees, but to invest in developing them through world‑class education and training.

For once, get off your high horse & gain some skills. These people are brought in because you guys are incompetent & can'tget the work done. You cry cheap labor? Look up H1B database and filter by your company. This is public information. Tell me how much a software developer on h1b is paid. I bet it will be the same or higher than what you're paid. If not, show me the data.

That is correct! We should all be writing our congress representatives letting them know how much we love them and their oversight of policies they pass. Somehow, mindlessly complaining on "the layoff" is a waste of time and energy for all!

Cheap labor. Sad thing about these H1-B is the people are no where the quality as an american person. When confronted with a hurdle in a project they just sit there and say nothing. They also lie alot!

Look at Alpharetta, GA and Atlanta. Alpharetta has been a huge H1B hiring hub for over 10 years. Little silicon valley.
