Thread regarding Phillips 66 layoffs

Bartlesville Control Center

We need to be clear: controllers will not be relocating to Tulsa. This move would result in the loss of critical experience that safe pipeline operations legally depend on every day.

Seagull needs to fully understand this reality. Our position on relocation must be communicated clearly. We need to stop training backfills to move roles to Houston. If Seagull chooses to move, have her develop and implement the training.

Well looky here people leaving left and right and majority applying for other jobs because the lies being told to us. In the meantime supervisors are Never around or on a supervisor getaway. Nevertheless, one supervisor is walking around telling us we more than likely wont be moving to Tulsa. Love the mind game! Someone please buy us

@16x I'll be sure to hide my master's degree if you ever burst from the Houston bubble and come visit, I don't want to ruin the stereotype. I'll spread word so my colleagues do the same.

@12h the jobs that went overseas are low level jobs that any one could be trained to do. They didn’t send the majority of Houston or refinery jobs did they? Bartlesville people, keep holdin on to your ‘barely need a high school degree, kush jobs’ for as long as you can. And lecture the rest of us on how great y’all are. It’s gonna work out real great for yall.

@n9 if the company was so concerned about talent they wouldn't have sent so many jobs overseas. Why are you so concerned about where people work? You can work anywhere these days, we own all the buildings in Bartlesville so it probably costs peanuts to keep open. Not everyone wants to live in Houston.

@wk I will refrain from personal attacks of strangers on the internet, since that’s not going to advance this discussion any further.
I will leave it at this - we’re too far gone to return Bartlesville to its glory days. The right decision forward is obvious.

@sm thank you. You validate my statements effortlessly. Like those areas you mention, you are lost in your own ignorance.

@qn no actually. I would consider the West Coast Silicon Valley crowd and the East coast banking crowd as the epicenter(s) of talent.
Bartlesville didn’t build anything. The people of the company built the city instead. Although I can respect the history, I’m not so steadfast to be blind to the fact the people who once built the company and town are now gone. Bville is in decline and the smart decision to make would be to shut down and move on. It requires a rational decision not an emotional one.

@n9 what is the epicenter of top talent? Houston? That’s laughable considering we don’t pay like we really want to compete. At least not where it counts. Places like Bartlesville built what you so virtuously write about as if you have some greater understanding. From a historical perspective the company has deteriorated since moving away from heritage to Houston. A linear digression that can easily be plotted, just ask Elliot. It’s as if the government for the state of California is running this company. A constant state of denial following willful ignorance and bad instincts. I guess you could be right, Houston might be the epicenter of talent because it’s been slapping this company around like the practice squad since arrival. I know it’s hard but try not to let the company program all your thoughts and opinions.

B’ville is not exactly the epicenter of top talent. Holding on to proud history and heritage of Phillips isnt going to make us better. We’ve stuck around there for generations, not because it was the right thing to do but bc of the history. The museums shut down. The office is almost abandoned. There’s no reason to prolong this. It was always a satellite office and it’s time to shut it down.

@n1 Oh, it doesn’t sound like you have to “imagine” stewing in misery. So sanctimonious. Please continue

This isn’t the military is it? You can literally quit and go work somewhere else, right? That’s one of the great things about living where we live….you can choose your own happiness. I couldn’t imagine just stewing in misery day after day. Good grief.

@ca the Tulsa control center is just barely close enough that most controllers don't qualify for a relocation package. I don't know how they plan to stay DOT compliant when most of the controllers will have an hour long commute before and after their 12 hour shift.

@bs If it’s who I think it is she’s an ominous insecure “leader” who routinely abuses her position with bias decision making and uniformed opinions. She’s basically an inadequately placed individual who is keenly aware of her shortcomings. She attached herself to an HRBP who is just as ethically and morally bankrupt. They use massive change and “reimagining” to create a perception of progress and transformational leadership. It’s all just misdirection to keep the focus anywhere but on them. By the time the smoke clears the damage will be done and they will be no where to be found. Basically, seagull is a toxic person who uses authority for self gratification.

@OP, it was already announced the BRT Control Center would be relocating to Tulsa.

"Phillips 66 confirms plans Thursday to relocate its Bartlesville Control Center to Tulsa as part of an operational consolidation, while also confirming the elimination of a limited number of positions in separate, unrelated workforce reductions." - Bartlesville Radio

The glory days of Phillips 66 and Bartlesville are over.

Why would anyone choose to stay in Bartlesville? I get family and kids but you need to go where there is opportunity. Bartlesville is dying and the commitment from COP and PSX is no longer there to the community. All jobs will be in Houston eventually and the fruit on the vine will continue to wither. The largest employer in Oklahoma recently announced a merger and that HQ will be in Houston, not OKC. The writing is on the wall. It will take time but why wait until all are looking to move elsewhere? Get ahead of it and control your own destiny.
