Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

If you think we're done with layoffs, you're not paying attention

Leadership is laser-focused on OPEX cuts, and every signal points to around 15,000 jobs still being on the line. That's the number floating around, the one nobody's refuted, the one we all know is coming for us eventually. Whether it happens next week or next month changes nothing in the end. It's happening. The only things left to figure out is how many rounds, and who's getting cut. Prepare accordingly.

Layoffs and promotions at Verizon are based on vibes not on competence. The downside of all these layoffs is that Verizon will end up with an even higher percentage of incompetent people that make bad decisions but give good vibes to their higher ups.

Kiss up and kick down!

Sad to see so many greedy people applaud the stock price and ignoring everything else. I guess the same type who voted for the orange slimy wantpeacesimpletonemperor.

It's not unimaginable to drive the stock price high by layoffs and stock buy backs, cripple the company, collect 200 M bonus and exit. The scorched land behind him won't be his problem. He is not playing the long game and failed to present any strategic vision yet. AI is not a vision, it's a buzzword.

@ad Hey dum--ss you realize wireless kept the company making lots of money. You know who fixed them when the equipment inside the cell site broke. Cell techs, do a whole he-l of a lot more than wireline lazy a-s techs do on any given day.

Agreed, Dan has barely completed the first inning of the game. He will be in control for at least another 8 quarters. Many don't want to admit it but there is so much fat to be cut and Dan will. Everyone sees the coworker who ducks out early or barely reports to work. Go to a store and you hear customers being victimized by unscrupulous salespeople, they even grift other employees! Managers loiter in the back while people on the floor ignore or even resent helping customers unless they can score some win. It is disgusting. The company ignores calls to address outside plant safety issues with municipalities often even when requested by local police. It is an embarrassment to tell people that you work for this place. One reaps what one sows and a great deal of sh** has been sown for a long time here. Well, the time of harvest has come and Dan is the Reaper. As a shareholder and employee, I welcome it. It is better late than never. 64

The new guy is stopping the NFL agreement which saves over 1B+. He needs stock at 75, there will be more layoffs.

As a shareholder, I couldn't be happier.

I'm paying attention to my 401K that, this week alone, took a substantial hit ...thanks to the lousy orange Mar-a-Lago golfer now temporary occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC and his criminal friends Bibi and AIPAC crew.

It’s definitely Guru’s EA.

Whenever that name is mentioned it is reported and removed.

Not to say this would be socialist, I am capitalist- do not stop the cuts till the stock hits $100 - let’s payback our shareholders who put their hard earned money in Verizon stocks.

@aj It depends. The worst FE I've ever experienced was American. Actually two of them. And then there was a total opposite, very cool and resourceful guy, mounted a directional high gain LTE antenna on a high beam, orientated it correctly to face the nearest tower and then joined a meeting to tell us it's done.

Everyone in operations is getting the no overtime speech, not less work, work more no overtime. We are also being hit with long lists of millimeter wave sites that they don't want us to spend any money on if they break. How's that for an admission of how stupid an investment MMW was. Anyone else looking down that long dark tunnel hearing the train whistle.

I would hate to be an SVP, VP, AVP, SD, Director, or AD. Network Field Engineers actually have marketable skills and can find another job. Managers can be replaced by AI, Field Engineers can't. Rest assured fewer Field Engineers means fewer managers.
