I am leaving for another position soon. Saw my current role posted for internal applicants listed one grade level lower than my current grade level.
Has anyone else seen this happen before?

Super common
Yes, this has been happening at WellMed. Anecdotally I've noticed this since Fall 2024. A VP who left for a different job was later replaced by a senior director, and a director who later left was replaced by a manager.
This is the organization continuing to find ways to pay less and expect the same output.
They did that to my position. Was a g28 was Rif’D and offered my job back at a g27 with a significant pay cut.
I also saw this happening in 2025. They are laying off and hiring people with the same job title at a lower paygrade.
What paygrade was the posting listed at?
@OP Yes I have seen this happening since last year.
They've been doing this for a while to different roles.
That is better than sending the job to India….
I noticed it last November. Hired as 30 (even have that saved from my hire date in February 2025) and my grade was changed to 29. I am still within the payband but now MUCH closer to the top. Not like it matters with 0.0 to 2.0% raises.
