CEO Bill Brown was seen visiting Cottage Grove last week. Still don’t know if that’s a good thing or bad thing

@xh Bill, is that you? Why are you running this company into the ground?
@ak then get out! 3M will be a better place without you and your perpetual complaints
I can confirm that some products that were moving from Decatur to CG will go to Cordova. I will also say that the project Cardinal is moving WAY faster than anticipated. Decatur MRD is coming to a halt quick.
Can confirm. A large part of CG is being reviewed.
Cordova has capacity even with Decatur sunsetting. Cordova is also installing additional capacity.
CG as we know it will be much smaller. The incinerator was just the start. Yes it will put the squeeze on abrasives, but that may not be a 3M concern in the not too distant future.
Why do you think the CG leader has been such a hard position to fill.
Cottage Grove will become Cottage Cheese
CG plant is cr@p they supply bad quality products to other 3M internal sites. Deserves them of they were to close down
@f3 What newfound capacity? Decatur-Chemical is closing and Cordova is absorbing all its volume. I doubt it can also absorb CG.
It’s being reviewed for partial closure. WW is fairly safe, but with the newfound chemical capacity in other better run plants it puts the target on CG.
He heard that housing in CG is reasonably priced so he was going to check that out as long as he was being reimbursed 50 cents per mile for the trip to the plant.
As a Brit I had to read that twice… over here if a senior executive is spotted “visiting cottages” it usually ends up in the newspapers for very different reasons.
Part routine, part scoping out future ax targets.
@OP hard to say.
Ultimately, being employed by 3M is bad. We all need to get out.
