Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

BOA is known to layoff hardworkers more than those who don't do their fair share of work.

BOA is known to layoff hardworkers more than those who don't do their fair share of work. I have been with this bank for 28yrs and witnessed so many good workers who always did what was expected of them within their role and more. While the slackers tend to remain left behind. This has resulted in questioning why should those who are always willing to do more than what they are expected continue to do so and let those responsible for doing certain tasks do their damn jobs.

How many of you have a manager that is always meddling into other teams responsibilities and expect their own to do other teama work oppose to reaching out to those teams to do their jobs? I'm so fed up because I see a few managers that I interact with do that and to me that is crossing boundaries and disrespectful to other managers.

At the end of the day those leaders meddling tend to be the ones to get let go from what I have seen in the past.

@OP So by your own logic and your 28 years you are in the category of not a hard worker. Good job !!!! Maybe next year will be your year that you work hard and get laid off. Until then just do nothing and absorb 2026 as another year of complacency.

While this place takes it to a ridiculous level, this is not the only company that has a totally backwards idea of " leadership" qualities. The real leader is someone who is willing to stand up to the powers that be, call out the issues, and challenge the status quo. However, senior management usually sees the people who blindly FOLLOW whatever they say, don't rock the boat, or ruffle some feathers as the future "leaders" who are worthy of promotions.

@vn yes at this shithole bank advancement and recognition often appear to favor those who engage in flattery and constant agreement with leadership rather than those who are loyal and demonstrate consistent performance. This tendency may stem from leaders seeking affirmation over critical feedback, creating a culture where visibility and personal alignment outweigh measurable results. As a result, hardworking employees who focus on productivity and problem solving may become disengaged or overlooked, ultimately weakening the company’s long-term effectiveness and morale.

They love : fawners, toadies, brown-nosers, bootlickers, kowtowers, su-k ups, stooges and lackies, not hard workers.

I was one of those who got sc--wed, royally...
Merrill employee 2 weeks before my 25th anniversary - told I was "nominated" to be let go. Always out performed my counterparts - by a lot. Always exceeds/exceeds, not a single HR issue in those 25 years. Went above and beyond picking up the tasks of the slackers (who remain, and aren't held accountable). Turned my life upside down.

Because deep-down, most managers know they are useless, clueless, empty-title, boot-licking hacks. So this brings about raging insecurity. So if are directed from on high to provide a name for a RIF/ay off, they will go with the high performer because that person is a perceived threat. Same dynamic is why the schmucks of the group gets promoted over the deserving team member. They are less threatened by the schmucks.

You got sold out by/to unscrupulous, deviant, dull-minded spineless, immoral, evil worms.

We all did.

Now they've infiltrated everywhere in the USA; downgrading demoralizing and destroying everything that's: good, creative, worthwhile, and genuinely innovative and enterprising in their path.
It's actually a world-wide infection at this point.

Satan's winning for now, but Jesus is returning very soon to set things right.
Get right with Jesus and God.
Jesus is the only way to save yourself from this madness which is being put upon all of us.

End Times.

I agree. I know a manager that attends some of the same meetings that I do and at times talks about stuff as if its their responsibility right in front of managers who teams are responsible for handling what they are talking about on the calls.

What's interesting is that the respective managers never speak up to take ownership or accountability of things. The managers that don't take accountability and ownership of things knowing it's their team's responsibilities have NO business being a manager and should be the ones to be let go.
