Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Why not offer VRP to everyone who qualify?

There are no roles that can’t be back filled so why not take volunteers to assist in the mission of reducing workforce. Many would take it and be gone already.

VRP is actually a good option. You can retire with dignity and still get pay for months. It would be better if offered a few more weeks than layoff. Not sure if they actually already offered.

5K were offered VRP in each of the two rounds. More people accepted this time than the one late last year. Some departments were exempt even though people met the requirements due to business need.

For some bands (e.g. higher band 4, band 5), outside of the 2 -week per year of service with 52 weeks cap and COBRA subsidy, VRP severance package offers extended (up to 1 year) stock options and RSU expirations.

@b3 you get subsidized cobra with VRP and some people got more weeks based on their salary. Cobra is quite a bit. For example, with cobra subsidy it’s 732. Without is is 2000

Someone on my team was offered twice and declined…so they chose a worker a few years younger to lay off instead. Declined VRP twice age: 59. Person they let go of instead: 53.

Is VRP better than the layoff?

Totally agree! Does anyone know if they are likely to offer it again this year?
